  I am trying to set up my menu in the alora theme and there is text in the header that displays behind when going to sub pages.

actually it’s a breadcrumb menu behind, can you try to disable it in, Theme Options -> Page Title Bar -> Breadcrumbs/Search Bar
did you disable title text for that page?
