It is beyond frustrating that I cannot simply put code or make any functions.php modification so that I simple have the current year in the footer! I have tried numerous things and nothing work!

Why can we not simply have a way to put the current year in the footer!

While I can certainly modify the footer php, my complaint is that non-technical people need a way to do it via Theme Options > Footer! It should be a configuration mechanism so it would be easy for all users to employ.

I’ve been using a similar function in other environments for years. Honestly, I don’t understand why WP hasn’t added it to the core. It’s a no-brainer.

    Hi,

You can type the year in the following location.
It’s in Theme Options -> Footer -> Copyright Options -> Copyright Text.

You only need to change it once a year.

    Thank you

So if I have 1000 websites, I have to go to 1000 websites on January 1st to change the year? That is NOT an answer!

Why isn’t there a built-in shortcode or even a way to input “<?php echo date(‘Y’); ?>” directly into the footer?!

Why wouldn’t T4P want to make it easier rather than more difficult for customers?
