I hope this isn’t duplicate post. I have Evolve 1.8 and am attempting to have front page & blog show one col w/sidebar, thumbnail excerpts, as in the “Yoga” demo. No luck! I also download 1.9, but it appears that updating the theme would kill most of the work I have done. So, please advise:

    For 1.8:
    1. Is there a way to get Thumbnail excerpts on front page single col w/sidebar (Yoga Example)
    2. Diminish the amount of spacing between the excerpts (really excessive)
    3. Reduce the size of the header to accommodate small logo and type.

Thank you! NOT code savvy, but am good at cut and paste (smile)

    Hi,

Please install another localhost on your computer for Evolve 1.9 and Import all demo content.
You can then use that as a reference for your current work.

In version 1.9 you can set sidebar layout for each post or page.

For your current work. You just need to backup the whole copy of your current parent or child theme with any modifications that you made, keep it, and in case you need it, you can always revert back. It’s advisable to update theme because there could be some critical bug fixes and new features.

Perhaps it’s because I am new to this job. I cannot find the Yoga example that you mentioned on our demo site.
Please kindly post the url to the demo page here.

    Thanks!

Denzel: See Evolve showcase, scroll to bottom left: Yoga page with Thumbnail excerpts.

    https://theme4press.com/evolve-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/#prettyPhoto%5Bpostimages%5D/14/

This was supposedly available in 1.8, but I have not been able to do so. I have quite a bit of work into the structure for a public library, that I don’t want to lose or reinvent.

The 1.9 update clearly states that if you import the demo you lose your existing formatting. Isn’t there a better way?

Bottom line can I achieve the thumbnail excerpt approach as shown in the evolve showcase??

    Hi,

    Please kindly read my replies.

I did not ask you to import demo content on your existing setup. I advised you to create another setup on your computer and use that to try out version 1.9 and import demo content on this new setup.

Regarding the Yoga page that you mention. Yes you can create it in Evolve+ version 1.8

It was created with a normal page, and the recent_posts shortcode, which generated via theme4press core plugin.
Paste the following in your page content editor.

And a bit of Custom CSS.

In Theme Options -> general -> Select a layout
Select the second “one sidebar” layout and you will have one sidebar on the right of your webpage for every page.

If you need further assistance, please kindly post your website url here. I need to see what you have created, so that I provide solution to your problem.

    Thanks!
    Denzel
