    The new Evolve+ doesn’t appear to support the use of custom icons that would over-ride the use of Font Awesome. The previous version had a separate field to inserting the URL. Since it’s missing I tried putting the URL in the Font Awesome field, thinking it might over-ride the image, but it was ignored.

    True. We currently support Font Awesome only.

    Okay. It appears I can achieve my goal by using the Content Box shortcode on the homepage instead. Didn’t really want to since it’s easier to make updates using the Customize panel, but it works.

    Sorry – I was referring specifically to the Customize panel functionality. We’ve added this feature to our roadmap, it will be available in the next update of the theme (or the one after, at most).
