  Trying to get the slider to function. Layout either shows nothing or just a grey box. Any ideas?

Make certain your slider type and slide deck are selected in your page settings.

did you follow the steps as are in the docs http://theme4press.com/alora-documentation/setting-up-the-sliders/revolution-slider/
