The Recent Posts shortcode lets you pull recent posts from your site into a Post or Page. You have the choice of a number of different layouts, with different numbers of columns and posts. You can also choose which categories to pull posts from.

These are the properties:

  • layout = use one of these: default (image on top), thumbnails-on-side, icon-on-side
  • columns = number of columns, i.e. 2
  • number_posts = a number, like 2
  • cat_slug = the slug for the category that you wish to be shown
  • exclude_cats = names of categories you would like to exclude
  • thumbnail = yes, no
  • meta = display meta info: yes, no
  • excerpt = yes, no
  • excerpt_words = a number, like 35
  • strip_html = yes, no
  • animation_type = bounce, fade, flash, shake, slide
  • animation_direction = down, up, left, right
  • animation_speed = 0.1, 0.2 ... 0.9, 1
