Hi – I updated Evolve Plus today to the latest version you had available on our “test site” – the WP site our host provides us to test updates before we implement on our production site. It didn’t help with any of the admin area issues we experienced Tuesday after our managed wordpress host updated us to 5.5. We do not have the option to customize anything in the Evolve Plus theme – all I see is “widgets.”

We use the Classic Editor because one of our essential plugins requires it. After WP 5.5, we are not able to update any permalinks, we are not able to access the “text” tab, and we can’t change status, publish date, etc. from the page – none of those links/buttons work. I can change those things from the quick edit option, which is fine for a temporary work around, but I really need access to the text screen so I can insert button code – we just implemented this theme on our website not even 2 weeks ago and I am still updating our buttons on all our job pages.

For clarification: all of these items were working fine before the update to WP 5.5. When I switched back to our old theme, the items I mention above all work, so it appears to be evolve plus theme related. I have deactivated all our plugins one by one, and it did not help.

Please advise. I use the admin area to update our pages daily and I really need this to work. Our host won’t allow us to roll back our wordpress version.

The best way to solve this would be to give us access to your admin area and FTP. The other option is to wait until we’re done collecting feedback and probably issue another update. Please read what I’ve written at the new post at the top of the forum, this too might help. Actually, it is a good idea to do that first.

Please update to version 2.9.9.8, which was rolled out just now with hotfixes. Let me know if you still have problems (shouldn’t be any). Sorry for the inconvenience.

I will try the update now, if there are still issues I will report back. I did speak with our managed wordpress host (godaddy.com) about an hour ago, and they advised me to download a plugin called Enable jquery migrate helper, as this seems to be helping most of their customers that are having issues with WP 5.5.

After installing the latest update on our staging site, the options to customize the theme are back. Thank you! The options to change the permalink, access the html, change published date, etc. are back. Thank you for responding so quickly with the updates!

I did lose all my sidebars in the update process. Before I roll the update out on our production site, is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Terrific, I’m happy to hear that everything is as it should be! As for the sidebars question – we will get to the bottom of this issue as well. We will have a look, probably tomorrow
