In Header options one can se Header Email Address. I see though that it is unprotected. Any way to protect it?
tried to disable the contact links in Header Options? Header Top Left Content or Header Top Right Content
Well, the idea is to maintain the e-mail in this position, but in a way that is non-harvestable. The only thing I have come up so far is this:
http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html
But I am sure it would be worth having the protection built in with some method:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Protection_From_Harvesters
what about to use just something like contact (at) example (dot) com ?
Yes, that is also a valid solution, but the best is clickable e-mail which is also protected 🙂
I tried this method http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html … it worked for me just fine, too
Yes, I am not sure that this is the best protection possible though.
Hmmm, seems like the method http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html works for a while, however when revisiting the page (or saving other settings?) it reverts to standard e-mail. This must be a wordpress issue which automatically converts entities (same happened when I used it in post area).
it’s not a wordpress issue….it’s a wordpress safe validating for hackers 🙂
One way or another, the e-mail is not protected by that method, I guess you may have to come up with something theme-integrated for the next version.
