    I went back and loaded the demo data link you suggested. The demo data was loaded, but the footer remains just a single line of text. In the theme options, I changed the footer to 3 columns, and now the text appears formatted following the theme. So I think my problem is a lack of understanding on how WordPress handles things. Like I mentioned earlier, my experience is with Joomla.

    Am I understanding correctly that in each column, I need to add a widget to accomplish what I want? Also, if I am correct, do you have any recommendations on books that will help me with WordPress.
