Changes can be done in the CSS file. For most themes, edit the stylesheet directly through WordPress dashboard under Appearance ->Editor. WordPress automatically opens the Stylesheet when you click “editor”, but if not, you can find it under Theme files – look for Style.css.

Keep an eye on the background and background-color attributes in the theme’s stylesheet. Hex code values of the color can be changed according to preferences. For hex code color information, the site http://www.colorhexa.com can be looked up.

Responsive feature cannot be really enabled/disabled. It’s the way the theme has been designed.

However one option is to try deleting all the media queries in the CSS file, but it’s a big risk.

When adding or editing a post, look at the ‘Publish’ box at the top right. Trace ‘Visibility: Public’ and click ‘Edit’. Check the ‘Stick this post to the front page’ box and click ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’.
