    I just purchased evolve-plus. I was having the same problem with the free version as well.

    My problem is that modifying child theme options actually modifies the parent theme options. Here is a step by step example:

    (1) Installed evolve-plus
    (2) Activated the evolve-plus theme and required plugin
    (3) Created a child theme by following these instructions (https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes). I copied the two files I created below.
    (4) Activated my child theme.
    (5) Changed the buttons to be red via child Theme Options -> Shortcodes -> Button
    (6) Saved
    (7) Go to live page. Buttons are still blue.
    (8) Activate evolve-plus theme.
    (9) Go to live page. Buttons are now red.

    Please help me fix this!

    <?php
    add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘my_theme_enqueue_styles’ );
    function my_theme_enqueue_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( ‘parent-style’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’ );
    }
    ?>

    Hi Denzel,

    The only difference between what I did and those instructions is using
    @import url(“../parenttheme/style.css”);
    instead of the functions.php file. Are you saying that makes a difference?

    All other guides out there for child themes say to use functions.php instead of import because you get better performance.

    I found a previous post of yours from January that says: “We do not encourage using of Child Theme, it does not work properly with Evolve Plus Theme.”

    Is that still true? Or have you fixed Evolve Plus so that it now works with child themes?

    Claire

    Hi,

    A child theme does not affect option values.
    The Appearance -> Theme Options is generated and controlled by the parent theme which is Evolve Plus Theme.

    I will not go into details in explaining how WordPress or Child Theme works.

    If you need help on changing color of button.
    Please post your website URL showing the button and tell me the color hex code, I will provide you with css code to add in Appearance -> Theme Options

    If you want to continue with sharing programming knowledge, I will get my employer to share with you.

    Thank you

    Hi Denzel,

    Can you please answer the other part of my question:

    I found a previous post of yours from January that says: “We do not encourage using of Child Theme, it does not work properly with Evolve Plus Theme.”

    I want to understand if I should use a child theme with Evolve Plus or not.

    Hi,

    If you are only using child theme for css codes, I suggest you to add them in Theme Options -> Custom CSS and not to use a child theme.

    If you need to override and modify templates, then you use a child theme.

    I was one of the developers for this theme when I made that comment.
    I had since step down as developer and only worked as support technician in this forum.
    Therefore, I do not know if child theme works properly with Evolve theme now.

    Thank you

    Hi,

    We only provide support for using the features of our product.

    Creating a Child Theme is customization.
    Regarding customization, we can only provide css code.

    If you need help to create a proper Child theme, You can contact us for customization service via https://theme4press.com/theme-customization-service/

    Regarding your question.

    I need to know if Evolve Plus works properly with child themes.

    Yes, If you are a programmer and can create a proper child theme.
    And If that question is directed personally to me. Yes, I can create one that works with Evolve Plus Theme.

    Please see my screen-cast which shows me creating a child theme for Evolve Plus theme in less than 1 minute.
    http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cD1ZndiZZz

    And as I mentioned before, there is no way a child theme can affect the Theme Options, unless you add code to modify it.

    In my screen-cast, you can see, I am able to change the menu color without any issue.

    Hope the above clarifies all your doubts.

    Thank you.
