I occurred to me after I posted about the 404 problem that I am having is that it might help if I gave you the sequence of changes that I made.
09-23 Installed Alora on needlefeltedanimals.com (NFA) blog and Evolve+ on stoneaccentsstudio.com (SAS.)
Since installation I have changed the theme options in Alora for NFA many, many times to figure out what does what and to try to find out if it is possible to make the Background Image for Header Area or the Page Title Bar Background
tall enough for a decorative header, I am still having problems with that one but that is an issue for another posting.09- 26, NFA- I changed the names of some of the posts then changed the names of the widgets.
The changes were confirmed by their population in the main menu and other places.I am not sure when I installed Alora and Evolve on the other blogs but I believe it was a few days before the 404 messages started.
09-28 NFA – I made a few practice posts.
09-29 NFA – I created a text widget with an external link that worked.
09-29 NFA – I created a menu but have not added anything to it.09-29 NFA- deleted the domo tags and catagories and added my own.
09-29 NFA – The 404 messages started sometime after the tag/categories change.I did not see my original post here so I am including below, sorry if I am comitting a faux paus.
JulieOI read the posts here about 404 messages and I seem to be having the same 404 problem that some others have had, I called Blue Host and they suggested the Permalink fix but it did not work, they said that the problem is with the templates.
About 10 days ago (9-23) I began setting up 2 installations of Evolve+ and 2 of Alora. I have not done much in 1 of the Alora installation and nothing in the 2 evolve instillations. I have spent a lot of time figuring out how to make the changes I want in Theme Options in my needlefeltedanimals.com (NFA) and I had never received the 404 page until 9-30. When I called Blue Host they told me to try some other sites I have and when I tried an Evolve+ or Alora site I got the 404 message in all of them and none of the sites using other templates.
It seems strange that it started happening in all of the installations at the same time, even the ones that I had not done much to, what could the common cause be??
If I click the back arrow it usually takes me to where I was trying to go but that is not always the case. I am unable to get to menus and a few other places. Obviously the back arrow is not a fix once I launch my sites so I need a permanent fix.
I do not want to worry about people coming to my sites and having this frustrating situation happen to them.I am 58 and self taught, I have not had a site or blog or worked with css in over 8 years, it isn’t like riding a bike, if you don’t use it you do LOOSE it., so please be patient with me.
