    I’d like to include a slider showing our holiday properties in one of the homepage boxes – can I use the included sliders or will these be too wide? Not sure if they adapt for the size of the photos.

    Alternatively, if I used the client slider shortcode, can I add in text links?

    Hi,

    The sliders will crop your image.

    For client slider shortcode, you can only added a client website link.

    Please use the theme4press shortcode creator, the number 4 button found on your WordPress content editor. You will be able to see all the options available.

    Thanks but none of the options seem to let me add a line of text under my image.

    You can try to search for a free plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/ that suits your requirements. Or you can purchase a premium plugin such as http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-responsive-wordpress-slider-plugin-/1362246
