    I use Evolve+ and made a few simple updates to page content yesterday as well as uploaded new photos, some of which were used to update my bootstrap slider. After all the edits were complete, everything looked clean and according to layout and design set-up months prior. I left my computer on…and when I came back to it a few hours later, the website layout had changed (spontaneously?) in 4 ways [note, I am a novice WP user, there is NO custom code CSS]:

    1) the layout of the website was now larger proportionally – for example, the bootstrap slides now take up more width and height…we used to be able to see the entire slide without scrolling down

    2) the light Green background color now visible behind the boxed header continued down the right and left side of the website, however, the background of the main content area was White…now, despite what settings I have chosen, I can’t seem to set a background color as a right/left contrast border to the main content and it looks quite odd just being in the header

    3) I don’t remember having a green background situated in between the white header and the dark green menu bar…but, since everything looks so different, it is possible this was there

    4) there is now a random grey shadow line in the middle of each page

    All of this is very odd given that I didn’t change any settings. Not sure how to fix – have spent hours trying to go through all customize options to try and get back to former settings and have been unable to reestablish former layout.

    I’m not sure whether easier to restore most recent back-up…which, I’ve never done (I have weekly UpdraftPlus files), so appreciate perspective on that option as well.

    Hi,

    First of all, website don’t change by itself.

    Your UpdraftPlus plugin is capable of back up and restore.
    I have never used this plugin, but you can check if it has an automatic restore setting, disable it.

    Disable and remove any plugin that you suspect is causing you issue.

    You mention that you are unable to let changes update on your front end.
    If you have a cache plugin such as W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache, you will need to purge the cache content, then clear your browser history in order to allow latest content to update on your front end.

    If you are still unable to find what’s causing this issue, you can disable one plugin at a time, to find out which plugin is causing this issue.

    So – no one was near my computer and no new plug-in have been installed or updated. I am completely baffled as to why the layout became impacted. After I completed the page updates and media uploads I validated that they were all made successfully – and the site looked great. 5 hours later, it was all wonky. The Why at this point I suppose is not important (although entirely irksome).

    Do you have any guidance on how to:
    – resize the page layout so that the entire bootstrap slides are visible without scrolling down?
    – set a background color on L/R side of the main content section?
    – remove the space between the logo header and the menu bar?
    – remove the grey line from the middle of each page?

    It would be helpful to understand how to re-establish the settings; however, if needed, I will pursue the Restore route and keep my fingers crossed.

    Hi,

    The slider image width is set to 100% ( which is the layout width ) and slider height is set to auto.
    All you need is to upload an image that’s height does not overflow.
    Resize your image before upload.

    – set a background color on L/R side of the main content section?

    It only possible to set the background color of the entire site.
    I can see that you have already set a background color for your website.
    Cannot divide website background color into sections.

    – remove the space between the logo header and the menu bar?

    Try Theme Options -> Header -> Header Padding Top and Header Padding Bottom

    – remove the grey line from the middle of each page?

    Which line are you referring to? There is no line in the middle of this page.
