I just updated to the current version of the Evolve+ Theme because of issues with the page builder. Before, the page builder would load but I couldn’t edit any of the blocks – just see the spinner. Since updating, the page builder loads AND I can open a block but I get the following error:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function evolve_get_option() in /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-content/plugins/t4p-core-composer/core/gadget/tmpl/edit-element/form.php:28 Stack trace: #0 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-content/plugins/t4p-core-composer/core/gadget/base.php(169): include_once() #1 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-content/plugins/t4p-core-composer/core/gadget/base.php(76): T4P_Pb_Gadget_Base->render(‘form’) #2 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-content/plugins/t4p-core-composer/core/gadget/base.php(44): T4P_Pb_Gadget_Base::execute(‘edit-element’, ‘form’) #3 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(288): T4P_Pb_Gadget_Base::hook(”) #4 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(312): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #5 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-includes/plugin.php(478): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #6 /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-admin/admin.php(170): do_action(‘admin_init’) #7 {main} thrown in /nas/content/staging/hostetlerpr/wp-content/plugins/t4p-core-composer/core/gadget/tmpl/edit-element/form.php on line 28

I have disabled all plugins except for the Classic Editor plugin and the Theme4Press Core + Composer.

    What is going on?

Hello. Theme4press Core is are no longer used. In the new theme, this plugin is redundant. If you get this error, then the upgrade wasn’t done correctly. What was the previous version you used? and do you use a child theme? Thanks.

    The theme version is 2.7.7.

To update, I deleted the existing theme and uploaded the new one via FTP. The site is using the Evolve Child Theme but it has been customized so I didn’t update that.

What are you using for page layout in the new theme?

I’m just coming into this site and trying to fix it, so excuse my ignorance on what is going on. When I saw the current Theme was 2 years old, I know they were in trouble…

    Thanks

Yes, that is probably the problem. The child theme has elements that are using functions that do not exist anymore. We could take a look to try and help (we will need FTP and admin access for that), although this falls out of the scope of offered support because of the child theme modifications. But again, if you will send us access in a private message, we will have a look.

What do you mean by “Theme4press Core is are no longer used. In the new theme, this plugin is redundant”? I installed the newest version of the Theme and if I deactivate the Theme4Press Core + Composer plugin, I’m left with a bunch of shortcodes on all the pages.

Does your theme not use a Page Builder (DIVI, Elementor, Beaver Builder, etc.) anymore?

    Thanks

No response? What is my upgrade path? It sounds like you’re telling me I have none short of rebuilding the entire site.

This is a page using your theme plus your child theme (unmodified).

See the error message at the beginning of the content section (excusing the giant SM icons).

Here is the same page with the Theme4Press Core + Composer plugin disabled.

    Gew

    See the shortcodes?

Theme4Press Core + Composer no longer works on the existing site and when I update the themes to their current version (with and without the Composer plugin), the site itself is broken.

So am I correct in assuming I have no upgrade path?

Hi. Sorry – there was a misunderstanding, I thought you were answered already. Brief version – I made contact with the old developers of this theme (this business switched hands in April this year). It looks like you have a not just old, but an OLDER version of the theme. With composer ability, which was removed even before the theme core upgrade. This basically means that you do not have an upgrade path, unfortunately. You need to rebuild because your shortcodes belong to the composer and cannot be upgraded directly.
