  Any suggestions on how to add scripts to footer?
  copyright and tracking scripts that normally go at the bottom do not save in footer details of customize menu.

Hello. Copyright texts you can save through Customizer->Footer, just edit the default text. Tracking scripts, however, should be added either in footer.php or with the help of a dedicated plugin, such as “headers and footers”. In case you decide to alter footer.php manually, please make sure that you’re using a child theme.

normally I just add the < script > < /script > in the footer text but wordpress keeps erasing it.

problem seems to have gone away, maybe it was a wordpress problem.
i was able to add copyright javascript to footer 1 no problem it now shows the date properly.
