    Hey
Finally I got evolve+ installed (through cpanel)
Now I opened the customizer and BOOM all settings seem to be lost!
No widgets show up, header and footer settings lost, front page boxes lost…
    styling, typo… all gone
Horrible! Do I need to restart from scratch? I cost me a lot of work yet.
And than same thing every time you release a new version??? I am really afraid

Normally when i update one of my wp themes, the settings are still save. You need just hit the button update and all done.

May I import the evolve backup file and all settings will come back?
I did not hit “Save and Activate” yet, first need to know what exactly will happen.

Thanks if you would like to give me a response this time

    Hi Nathalie,

    Thanks for writing in!

If you’ve saved the settings of your customizer and you’ve copied the latest backup file before updating to the newer version. Then you should be good to get the previous changes back on this version.

    Thanks.

    Hi thank you
This works also when I upgrade from the free theme to evolve+ ?
I am really afraid about the upgrade, the Live Preview looks horrible, with all widgets missing or mixed up. Header has random widgets and Footer is completely empty…
I hope I wont get some mayor issues after activation.

    Hi again,
I did it I hit the button “save and activate”!

10 minutes later I was back to my free evolve (lucky enough – all stuff came back!)

In evolve+ the Header, Footer and Sidebar widgets had totally disappeared. I thought I could reorder the widgets and refill the sidebars and widget areas , but they had gone no where. So sad…!

Is there any solution to save the sidebars and widgets before changing from evolve to evolve+ ?

    Hi,

In your WordPress admin -> Appearance -> Widgets at the end of the page, you can find Inactive Widgets section. Just drag all your widgets there, before switching themes.

    Please see screenshot. http://prntscr.com/810vh5

    Thanks!

Hi thanks, but I this is exactly what I wanted to do.
    But
my lost widgets don’t figure in this list !
    They totally disappear after activation.

Is there another way to safe the widgets?
It took me a long time to configure correctly Header and Footer and also the sidebar, because the Theme doesn’t accept more than one sidebar, so i had to reconfigure my sidebar as well and put all widgets inside.

    Any solution please?

    Hi,

You need to do those steps that I mentioned before activating new theme.
If you were using the Evolve Free Theme, changing sidebar layout in Theme Options can cause your widgets to disappear.

    Disappeared widgets cannot be retrieved.

    Thanks!

    Ok thanks
I thought that evolve and evolve+ where compatible. Seems risky to switch from one to the other.
I will check-out if I cant duplicate my widgets before moving them around.

hi again, found a good solution with a plugin named Widget Importer/Exporter

Works perfectly, I exported my widgets from my production site under evolve and imported to my test blog under evolve +
But there is just one problem, some of the wids are rejected “Site does not support widget”.
    🙁
It concerns rpwe_widget witch i like a lot. It displays selected posts by category. (like your Tab widget, but with out the tabs.

Oups I guess I need to install the concerned plugin also on my test site. My mistake… sorry.
So I found the perfect solution for my problem 🙂
I am talking with myself … but could not edit my previous post

    Hi

I am trying to switch to evolve+. On evolve lite, I exported the custom setting from the ‘evolve backup” menu. However, after I switch to evolve+, the ‘back up’ menu has disappeared! Under Appearance there is no ‘evolve Backup’ option. Was it placed somewhere else?
