Hi all, I am a newbie and looking forward to learning what I can about WP.

Question 1: I have purchased the Evolve+ theme. I am currently going through the customisation options but because I have no content, I cannot see the effect that the customisations have on the page. Is there some kind of document or video that shows you what happens to your page when you turn this particular thing on or off?

Question 2: Also, as I am doing the customisations, the time it takes for the preview page to load and show the changes is approximately 20-30 seconds each time. Way too long. Also, when I go to my domain to preview the changes, it takes a long time for my site to load. (everything else on both computer and internet works fine). My hosting provider says the theme is too big and that’s why it takes so long to refresh. Is there anything I can take out of the theme to improve load times without removing basic functionality? If so, how do I go about removing it?

    Thanks so much
    Sharyn

    Just to clarify Question 1:

Apparently there are sliders. I don’t know what a slider is. If there was some way I could see a printout of the screen with the words Slider over the top of the slider, that would be helpful. Then I could see where the slider is on the page.
And, if there was a print out that showed me what a 3 column layout would look like, that would be great – somebody may say that there is a preview of what it will look like when you change the option in the customiser…. that’s great, however it takes 30 seconds for the preview to refresh and I don’t want to take 2-4 minutes just to get an idea of what something is going to look like.

    Hi,

Please import demo content and use it as a starting guide.

You can find it in WordPress admin -> Appearance -> Theme Options -> General -> Import demo content.

Use the Theme Options to setup your site.

Don’t use the Appearance -> Customize, this is super slow unless you are on dedicated server and your computer is powerful.

    Thanks!

    Hi Denzel. Appreciate your reply.

After following your instructons to install the demo content, I get a timeout error. The status bar says “waiting for sharynmayne.me” and after about 15-20 minutes, I get 504 gateway timeout.

Is there some way to get the demo site installed using FTP?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry, it cannot be installed via FTP.
FTP is for transferring file. Demo content is to be written into database.

Please create a WordPress website on your computer (localhost) and import demo content. Use this website on your computer as a demo.

You have to increase your server time out setting, if you want to import demo content on your online website.

    Thanks!
