    Problem disappeared. The shortcode icon now appears. I didn’t do anything in particular.

    Ah … I get it now. I didn’t understand that the Custom Fields attached to pages and posts. I had thought that they were global parameters. The Title Bar is now showing when I click on “Read More” on the Front Page post. It doesn’t show, though, on the Front Page itself. Is it possible to get it to do so? Sorry for all the questions.
