Evolve+ – The theme is set for both left and right sidebars in the Customise/General settings and I swapped the widgets from the left sidebar to the right and the right wiggets to the left and the left sidebar moved itself to the right on the front page. So now the front page has both sidebars side by side on the right but other pages seem OK with both left and right sidebars. The website which I am constructing is: http://sankeyvalleymethodists.org.uk/new/

Please help me to understand what is going on.

    Hi,

Please try changing the layout in Theme Options -> General -> Select a layout.
If you front page is a static page, try editing and scroll down to page options and set the sidebar position.

    Thanks!

    Hi Denzel,

The left & right sidebar option was already selected in Theme Options -> General and I have also selected the left & right sidebar option in the page options. I have even re-created the page and set it as a static front page. The sidebars appear correct before I registered the new page as a static front page and then they appeared side by side on the right as soon as I registered it. The original front page now it is not the front page shows the sidebars in the correct position, so it seems to be the process of setting a page to be a static front page causes the problem.

    Hi,

Sorry, I cannot replicate this issue on my computer.
It could be a HTML error caused by elements that you have added on your website.

Please kindly setup your homepage again to show me the problem.

I need to troubleshoot your issue on your website.

    Hi,

Your sidebar does not look totally the same as what’s originally in the theme.
Your left sidebar animates when I hover over it.
There is also HTML error when I view your webpage source.

There has to be a plugin conflict.

Please disable your plugins one at a time to find the conflicting plugin.
I did not do that on your website, because you have plugins that requires api key or login activation. I only taken a look at your settings.

    Thanks!

    Hi Denzel,

I currently have ALL the plugins disabled (but not deleted). I created a new home page with just one line of centralised text and left and right sidebars, each with a simple text widget containing one line of text. All was OK until I registered the new page as the Front Page using Settings/Reading, then both sidebars appeared parallel to each other on the right instead of to the left and right of the page content.

Could this be due to a corrupt Evolve+ installation. Should I delete the Evolve+ theme and reinstall it?

    Regards,
    ChrisB

    Hi,

I logged into your site to try out again.
For a brief moment I was able to see things work properly.

I taken a look at your site via firebug console and I can see that no matter how I refresh your site. It shows 304 not modified on in the console.
This means your server is loading cache data.
    Please see screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/jx4Q0XJ.jpg

Do you have a server cache program?

    Thanks!

The server was checked for cache programs and there weren’t any, but it was discovered that a tag closing ‘>’ character was missing from the code for 4th front page content box. That was fixed and the sidebars moved back into their correct positions. So this issue has now been resolved.

Thanks Denzel for you input and assistance.
