Incidentally, the Isotope framework needed the jquery UI stuff which at least got it partially working. I’ll just find another theme.
Answered it myself after having a dig around in the theme code, decided to go with this add_filter line and that seemed to do the trick!
add_filter('widget_text','do_shortcode');
Filters showing on other portfolio template options but not on the 4 column with text.
might’ve been the browser just then – I was on a linux system! I can’t seem to get it to show the filters even though it is set to ‘Show’
Ah, any reason why only ‘All’, ‘Breakfast’, ‘Breakfast Sandwiches’ and ‘Extras’ are the only categories showing?

Ah, on portfolio options on the page! I’d forgotten there was a setting there – it would’ve been set to ‘Menu’ before I expect (which was the category I deleted).
Still, might be useful to trap the error and display one that might help other users – whilst I was Googling for the ‘problem’ I came across another site that had been indexed with that error!
