You get http error because the image you are trying to upload is too large in pixel size for your server to handle.

Please downsize to probably around 1000px width before uploading to your website.
Decrease the size if it’s still causing error.

I think, instead of waiting to an indefinite time for theme update. we can try to fix it using css.

Please use the following in your Theme Options -> Custom CSS

.t4press-flexslider .background {
background-position: center top !important;
background-size: 100% auto !important;
}


We may still need to fix slider container height in mobile view.
Please get back to me, after you have setup your slider and applied the above css code.
