I’ve been trying to customise the Evolve Pro theme and am finding it hard with so little explanation of what the various options mean e.g. Layout Style (Boxed/Wide). However my problem is that having made many selections I get an error message saying:
Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in /var/sites/n/nickthenonexec.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/evolve/custom-css.php on line 40

I have no entries in the Custom CSS box.

Closing all browsers and restarting WordPress in a new window didn’t fix the problem nor did a reboot of my PC. Finally I reset the theme and the problem resolved although I had to re-enter all my set up selections. Now it has happened again I am unwilling to reset the theme as it will take too long to recreate all the customisation.
Please can you advise what to do to resolve the problem.
    Thanks

Although upgrading to the latest version of the theme I am still unable to access the customisation features. Please can you tell me what can be done as this is now urgent.
    Thank you

    Hi,

You can search this forum for that error message you encountered, and you will see that you are the only person experiencing that. There is no other customer with that same error.

I believe my written English is understandable, I already mentioned that I do not know how to replicate your issue on my localhost. I have never encountered that error before.

I will need access to your server via FTP and WordPress admin to do the troubleshooting.

There is nothing I can do if you refuse to read my reply or refuse to provide access to your website.

    Best Regards,
    Denzel

Sir I did indeed reply immediately however it appears that replying to the email does not automatically post back to you or the thread.

I am therefore resending you the information you asked for by PM.

    Hi,

In Theme Options -> General -> Layout Width
You must have accidentally “removed” the selection, this is the reason why it’s causing fatal error.

I have made a selection, now it’s loading properly.

Please also make sure Theme Options -> General -> Layout Style is selected. I have selected boxed layout, you can change to wide layout.

For Theme Options that are dropdown, Please check that you have made a selection, it should not be “removed” by clicking on the “cross” sign.

    Thanks!

    Thank you Denzel
Many of the options are now showing with padlock indicating I need to upgrade to Evolve+ Premium which I have already paid for.
In particular I tried to set up Front Page Content Boxes which do not appear and many other options are padlocked too.

Also is there more detailed info on using the customisation options please? In particular I’m now trying to find what html to use in the Learn More Slide Buttons on the Bootstrap Slider.
    Thanks

    Hi,

You must have enabled the wrong theme. Technically, Evolve and Evolve Plus are two different themes. Please check that you have enabled Evolve Plus Theme.

In Evolve Plus theme, there is no padlocked Theme Option settings.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Denzel
I’m still having problems with setting up my Home Page, now with the Bootstrap Slider.
When I entered a target for “href” the slider showed an error message which replaced the code in the button code box (<br />
<b>Warning</b>: htmlspecialchars() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in <b>/var/sites/n/nickthenonexec.com/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php</b> on line <b>3438</b><br />
). When I copied the original, untargeted code back in (Learn more) there was no change and the code disappeared. I then turned off the Bootstrap Slider and re-enabled it and now it will not appear at all.
Please can you tell me what is the problem.

    Hi,

Sorry, I don’t know what happened to your site. The login info you given is not working anymore. I cannot enter your site to investigate.

Please turn off WP_DEBUG in your wp-config.php, it’s for programmers to look at when we need to debug issues, turning it on can sometimes cause conflicts.

Please use the following code for your bootstrap button, it includes a target and is working properly.

    <a class="button" href="https://google.com" target="_blank">Learn more</a>

    Thanks!
